Pixel ability-fx forge [Free-OpenSource]
Forge game-ready pixel effects directly in your browser
Create animated pixel-art spell effects without drawing every frame by hand. Choose an effect archetype, eleental palette, formation, geometry, particle style, and animation flow—then preview the result and export it for your game.
Every effect is procedurally generated from a seed. Save the seed to recreate the same animation later, or generate a new one to explore another variation.
- Impact / AoE — explosions, novas, beams, fissures, directional attacks, and other short offensive effects.
- Ward / Barrier — shields, rotating runes, protective shells, energy walls, and defensive fields.
- Aura / Restore — healing circles, magical fountains, halos, blessings, mist, and persistent ambient effects.
The tool includes:
- 48 effect formations
- 10 elemental color palettes
- 3 visual power levels
- Multiple geometries and trace styles
- Mixed particle kits and individual particle shapes
- Different motion and timing styles
- Deterministic seed-based generation
Customize your effect
Fine-tune the visual structure of every cast:
- Effect family and elemental palette
- Primary and secondary formations
- Geometry and trace patterns
- Particle kits and particle shapes
- Movement flow and timing
- Visual weight, layers, and symmetry
- Reproducible variation seed
The live preview shows the complete animation and lets you replay or pause the cast while adjusting its appearance.
Export your animation
Export the finished effect in three formats:
- Sprite atlas — a single transparent PNG sprite sheet
- PNG sequence — a ZIP archive containing numbered frames and the complete
recipe.json - Transparent GIF — a looping animation for previews and sharing
Available export settings:
- Frame sizes: 128×128, 160×160, 192×192, or 256×256
- Frame counts: 24, 32, or 48
- GIF frame rates: 12, 16, or 24 FPS
All effects use a fixed center point, pixel-perfect scaling, transparent backgrounds, and edge-safe rendering.
Built for game development
The exported frames can be used in:
- 2D games
- RPGs and action games
- Game prototypes
- Ability and combat concepts
- Particle-effect references
- Sprite animation workflows
- Documentation and design presentations
